Stainless Heart

Two piece, whole hearted rock and roll
You can hear them playing Queen Street Civic Corner Friday nights this weekend – - last weekend – listened a little while and then after walking half way home, decided to come back to listen some more.
Something very compelling was happening here. It is not the first time a street side CD sale has resulted in finding something very worth listening to – after chatting for a while – agreed to video them. Putting it up on YouTube, wanted a new channel. AucklandMusic.com was born. Back to the band.
Their CD – Stainless Heart LIVE – is a not too perfect recording but a highly energetic performance by singer/drummer Sunny and lead guitar/vocals Caleb, plus some experimental experiences I rather enjoyed. CD was bought after 10 minutes of listening to Stainless Heart in full jam, stopping tourists who took photos.

Sunny stretches songs to the limit finding new space somewhere between hard and folk rock metal alternatively tinged by punk, metal and grunge, damn fine writing and a unique edginess, humour. They brand it “dramatic fok rock”.
Sunny drums and sings with a multifaceted voice and Caleb’s confident thrashing lead guitar is compelling.
Together they are Stainless Heart. You can compare them with The White Stripes and B52s. There is an inventive mischief with layers of good old fashioned rock and roll for the people. The recent gig at The Kings Arms, the penultimate and best of a Sunday night lineup was too short. Their appearances on Queen Street are fully legal and a bit of a local legend in the making.
