Auckland Music

Filming Requirements

AucklandMusic.com filming can be to produce one of two things:

1) show reels, or
2) live tracks for sale to the public

1) Live Show Reels, we provide video and editing services semi-professionally. There are fees for filming and editing based on an hourly rate for filming, setup and light/sound test, plus a budget for editing (the band sets a budget*).

*the recommended budget for 4 minutes of music, comprising 4 songs is $500 and is fairly minimal. If the band want to spend more, this should be discussed before filming. Lighting hire may be involved.

2) Co-Production – we film and co-produce a live recording for AucklandMusic.com or subscription download (we pay 25% royalties from a subscription pool based on apportionment of subscription income and uniques for each track). The videos produced are produced for this purpose, but the band is able to also use them as an inexpensive way to get a show reel (but respects our exclusive rights to selling the video of the live performance, i.e. that means no other cameras and a sign asking people not to take photos.

The songs must be original (covers are excluded from subscription videos).

Either way, it is intended as in inexpensive way to get a band video made. Rushes are NOT provided to keep costs down.

50% of it is live recording of the band’s music. This is a precondition of filming, the band agrees to ensure that the sound engineer connects and sound checks our recording mixer to the mixing desk and tests it properly, or the band agrees to provide a quality sound mix after filming (before any editing can commence).

Our Minimal Recording equipment:

  1. Yamaha AW16G
  2. 2xCanon inputs
  3. 6xJack inputs

Information requirement:

1) what kind of filming you prefer
2) the venue, and who the sound tech is
3) can you help with my technical requirements, or can you get a good mixable recording of the set?
4) How long is the set, how many players?
5) Lighting is very important, all players must be lit and preferably visible to the eyeline. HH Camera should be able to get side shots.
6) It may be necessary to film more than once, do you have another gig coming up?
